Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Health and Safety Management

Overview

The qualification is aimed at candidates who are responsible for developing and applying health and safety procedures and planning strategically. The candidate must be in a healthy and safety managerial role to be considered for this qualification.  

How long will it take to complete this qualification?

The awarding body of this qualification (ProQual) suggested that the total qualification time is 500 hours.  We feel this qualification can be completed in 6-18 months. Although most of these hours you will already be spending carrying out your day-to-day duties.

How will I complete this qualification?

As it is competence-based, candidates must demonstrate their level of competence in line with the course standards/criteria as part of a portfolio. Assessments will take place with your allocated assessor to ensure that your evidence/responses are suitable - this may be at your workplace or on video calls. 

Evidence can include: -

• work product including spreadsheets and worked examples of policies, assignments, projects, reports etc
• observation report by the assessor
• professional discussions 
• witness testimony 
• verbal and written questioning 
• Recognition of Prior Learning

Your portfolio of coursework is assured by an experienced and qualified IQA. 

Qualification Structure

There are 5 mandatory units which must be completed.

Mandatory Units-

1) Risk-based safety systems management

2) Safety culture, sustainability and the global effect on performance

3) Digital technologies and incident investigation

4) Development as a strategic manager

5) Establish business risk management processes
